Known limits, stated plainly
PoleView's first rule is that real data outranks invented data — and the honest version of that rule is telling you exactly where the edges are. This list is maintained, not marketing: when a limit falls, it comes off; when we find one, it goes on.
The track is measured; the surroundings are not.
Each venue's shape — centreline, width, banking — is reconstructed from real position data. The grandstands, infield and trackside furniture are generated to suit the kind of venue, not surveyed from the real place. The racing surface is the truth; the scenery is set dressing.
Live stock-car positions depend on someone else's infrastructure.
The live oval feed reads from the series operator's own web infrastructure, which includes kill switches that can turn it off at any time. It works today; it is not a contract, and we say so rather than pretend otherwise. Timing and lap counts come from a public feed and are far less fragile.
Driver tags appear only when your feed carries them.
Open-wheel feeds carry three-letter driver tags and PoleView shows them. The stock-car live path doesn't include them yet, so those cars wear neutral entry codes. Recordings that ship with the app are synthetic exhibitions and are badged as such, in the app, every time — invented racing is never presented as real.
The timing tower shows the top 21 in a full field.
With a 40-car field on the tower, positions past P21 sit behind an explicit "+N MORE" row rather than being silently dropped. Tap any car on track to inspect it directly. A full-field tower layout is on the list.
The PC bridge is unsigned, deliberately, for now.
Windows warns on first run because a code-signing certificate needs a registered company and a few hundred pounds a year — a funding decision, not an engineering one. Because we ask you to click past that warning, the download page publishes a SHA-256 checksum and the exact command to verify the file is ours. The build supports signing the moment a certificate exists.
Per-car telemetry depends on the feed.
Gear, throttle and brake render when your feed provides them (open-wheel does). Where a feed carries positions only, panels show what exists and say so, rather than drawing zeros that look like breakage.
